Anita Bennis is a highly sought after music teacher who creates a warm and welcoming environment for all. She explains, demonstrates, encourages and entertains with good humour and kindness.
Anita is a Primary school teacher with over thirty years experience of teaching children and adults in various settings, as well as being a professional musician with a Masters Degree in Irish Traditional Music performance.
In your school, Anita will enable the pupils to access Irish Traditional Music using our most accessible melodic instruments, our voice and by whistling. Pupils will be taught tunes matched their ability and will use chime bars to self-accompany these tunes.
Is féidir an cheardlann feadaíle a reachtáil trí mheán an Ghaeilge nó Béarla, this workshop is available through the medium of Irish or English.
Workshops can take place indoors, or outdoors depending on safety, weather and noise levels in the local environment.
A workshop with other groups of not more than 30 pupils can be added to any of the three levels. When additional groups are added, each group will be taught a different tune to enhance the school repertoire.
Option 1:
40 minute workshop.
Pupils will be taught a tune, and will self-accompany that tune using chime-bars, as they perform.
Discussion including some historical facts, customs and personal anecdotes relating to traditional Irish whistling.
Staff teacher is free to takes notes/record the workshop using AV device as per school policy.
An MP3 recording of the children whistling and self-accompanying using the chime bars will be delivered to the school electronically within one week of the school visit.
Option 2:
40 minute workshop, and staff pack.
Pupils will be taught a tune, and will self-accompany that tune using chime-bars, as they perform.
Discussion including some historical facts, customs and personal anecdotes, relating to traditional Irish whistling.

Performance by the pupils of what they have learned and a performance by Anita, for other members of the school community, pupils, staff, parents, Board of Management, with optional time for questions from the floor (max. 40 minutes duration).
